Sunrise at 52 Feet

Sunrise at 52 Feet, originally uploaded by ChrisIrmo.

Nikon D50, 18mm, f/14, ISO 200.
Wide angle focus and narrow apertures are typical in this type of landscape pictures. The narrow aperture contributes to the wide depth of field to render the background sharp.

The very wide angle creates the perspective the composition uses lines to drive the eyes towards the background, the fuzzy effect is due to the wide aperture and wide angle focal distance.

Nevada en O Cebreiro, marzo 2008

Nevada en O Cebreiro, marzo 2008, originally uploaded by lugarzen.

Canon EOS300D, 75mm, f/5, 1/3200 seconds,ISO400.
This is a nice composition with peculiar settings. The tree and the house wall frame the scene a typical composition theme. The f/5 aperture makes the borders and background slightly fuzzy and the high ISO gives some grain to the picture.Note the very fast shutter speed, It could have been taken with ISO100 even without a tripod.

Ocean Moon

Ocean Moon, originally uploaded by lakewentworth.

Nikon D80, 18mm, f/4, 30 seconds, ISO250.
Taken from an 8th floor this moonlit scene shows how the moon can render colors quite well with a long exposition. The long exposition also makes both the clouds and the ocean smooth as the movement smothes the surfaces.

Golden Perspective

Golden Perspective, originally uploaded by Vermin Inc.

Pentax K10D, f/32, 12mm, ISO100, 1/30 seconds.
The very wide angle at 12mm gives the image the singular perspective and the very narrow aperture at f/32 makes both the bottom at top of the buildings be in focus. The image has strong postprocessing but the perspective and focus make it interesting.

La Quebrada Cliff Diver / Clavadista

Canon Rebel XTI, 37mm, f/11, 1/6 seconds, ISO400.
A nice composition where both the statue and the sky are well exposed, the picture was taken at 8pm after sunset producing the nice tones in the sky and the statue. The narrow aperture makes both the foreground and background sharp.

Bridge

, originally uploaded by pasma.

Nikon D200, 1/200 seconds, f/5, 36mm, ISO100.
Typical composition with the tree and the post framing the bridge and diagonal lines entering the picture from the bottom right corner. The settings are almost default and that works well because the light is balanced and the only subject is the bridge.
